Si la presse occidentale s’intéresse au Bois c’est que cela touche le monde des toxicomanes donc le monde de l’argent et c’est ce qu’avait souhaité Mr Otto GOLHNOFFER rencontré en 1987. Ce directeur de recherche au CNRS (fondateur du musée de l’homme à Libreville) a durant 30 ans étudié le comportement de la plante à travers l’individu mais ses travaux n’intéressaient aucunement les pouvoirs publics faute de générer de l’argent. C’est à ce moment qu’il décida d’être plus médiatique afin de récolter des fonds en expliquant qu’une molécule sur les quinze presentes c'est à dire l’Ibogaïne aidait à sevrer quasi définitivement les drogués à l’héroïne et à la cocaïne. Faute de résultats rapides en Europe il décida de livrer ses travaux à Mr LOTSOF vers les États-Unis où les cobayes américains étaient très nombreux. On parlait à l’époque de subventions dépassant les 200 millions de dollars.

La notion de crâne est présente dans le Bwiti dissumba Fang (l’otouma) et dans le Bwiti Missoko (le Mwiri). Le voir est une chose qui appartient aux initiés confirmés c’est-à-dire ceux qui ont une bonne assiduité aux veillées ; le toucher relève d’une certaine audace vu les interdits qui s’y rapportent car cela apporte une sensation et une vision différente de la vie durant le court instant où il est en votre possession.

Le premier président du Gabon, l’Honorable Léon MBA initié au Bwiti en 1934 défendit sa cause auprès des administrations coloniales françaises. Le Gabon comptait plus de trente groupes ethniques isolés les uns des autres dans la forêt équatoriale. Le Bwiti devint la force unificatrice du mouvement d’indépendance de Gabon.
Gabon’s first president, the Honorable Léon Mba, initiated into Bwiti in 1934, defended his cause against the French colonial administrations. Gabon had over thirty ethnic groups isolated from each other in the equatorial forest. Bwiti became the unifying force of Gabon’s independence movement.
